Are You on a Path or Are You on a Bridge?

Somewhere between booking another “safe” client and turning down an opportunity that actually excited me, I had to ask myself—am I really building the life I want? Or am I just stalling on a bridge?
See, there’s a difference between your true path and a bridge.
Your path is where you’re operating in your zone of genius. It’s when you feel fully expressed, fully alive, and fully YOU.
Your bridge is something that pays the bills but drains your energy. It’s what you do because it was practical. Because it made sense at the time.
But here’s the problem: Most people get stuck on the bridge.
They tell themselves: “I’ll just do this for now. I’ll start my real thing later.”
Then one year turns into five.
The passion fades.
The work starts to feel like a never-ending loop of sameness.
And one day, you look up and realize—you never actually made it to the other side.
I knew I had to make a choice.
I could either keep walking in circles on this bridge, convincing myself it was “good enough.”
Or I could step into the unknown and actually commit to what I knew I was meant for.
It was terrifying.
It was uncertain.
And it was the best decision I ever made.
So, let me ask you:
Are you on your path… or are you on a bridge?
And if you’re on a bridge, when are you finally going to cross over?
Because staying stuck was never the plan.
If this resonates, I’d love to hear where you’re at. Email me at branding@shannysommer.com—I read every message, and I want to know what’s keeping you from stepping into your true path.
