You’re Not Struggling Because You’re Bad at Sales—You’re Struggling Because of Positioning

I was sitting in a restaurant, minding my business, when I overheard a woman at the next table trying—desperately—to convince someone to buy from her.
She was explaining every feature, every benefit, every reason why her service was amazing. The person she was speaking to was nodding politely, checking their phone, barely engaged.
And I wanted to lean over and tell her—this isn’t a sales problem. It’s a positioning problem.
Because when your positioning is strong, selling isn’t convincing—it’s a natural next step.
Think about it. When you walk into a high-end boutique, no one chases you down explaining why the bag is worth $5,000. They assume you understand the value.
That’s the level of positioning you need in your business.
When clients see you as an authority, they don’t hesitate.
When your messaging hits their exact pain points, they feel urgency.
When your confidence leads the conversation, they trust your expertise.
So if you feel like selling is hard, ask yourself:
✔ Do my ideal clients see me as the ONLY option, or just another choice?
✔ Is my messaging attracting premium buyers or people looking for free content?
✔ Am I leading with certainty or trying to prove myself?
Your issue isn’t sales.
Your issue is how you’re being perceived before the sale even happens.
Position yourself correctly, and sales become the easiest part.
If you’re ready to make that shift, email me at branding@shannysommer.com—let’s get your positioning in place so buyers come to YOU.
